Questions and Answers
How often must I re-pot the plant?
The first re-potting takes place after the end of the first flowering. Then after every
second flowering.
How large should the pots be?
The plant is likely to have been ”born” in a 12 cm pot. The first re-potting
should be in a pot one size bigger, that is 13-15 cm. At the following re-potting
you may use the same (cleaned) pot.
How much light can my orchids tolerate?
The plant does not tolerate direct sunlight! In summer it should therefore not be
placed on your windowsill unless the window is sheltered by for instance
Venetian blinds. In winter it will be alright to place the orchid on your
windowsill, but if the leaves begin to turn pale, the plant must immediately be
placed in the room again.
How much water do my orchids tolerate?
Water your plants once a week. You may for instance place them in a bowl, water them
thoroughly from the top and leave them to ”drink” for approx. 20 minutes.
Then remove them from the bowl and leave them to allow surplus water to
disappear before putting them back in their saucers.
When do I cut my orchids?
After the ceasing to flower the plant is cut just above the third ”eye” or
”knee” from the bottom. If the plant has lateral branches the cut should be
placed just above the first or second ”eye” or ”knee” of each lateral
branch.
How often should I fertilise my orchids?
Once a month you add one cap full of OrchidPlus per litre
water to the water.
